BISHOP J. LOUIS FELTON, Senior Pastor and Servant Leader, has invested over half a century in the Gospel Ministry. Bishop Felton serves The Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ, founded by the Bishop Ernest C. Morris, Sr., the presiding prelate of the Koinonia PA Jurisdiction. Mt. Airy is located at 6401 Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia, PA., 19126.
Through the ministry of Servant Leadership of Bishop Felton, over 2,000 souls have received the Kingdom at The Mt. Airy Church of God in Christ. To God Be All The Glory, Honor and Praise!!! Bishop Felton was appointed as Pastor of Mt Airy in 2010 and has led the congregation, investing over $4,000,000 in capital improvements and ministry development. The Mt. Airy Congregation has broadcast services on The Word Network, The Now Network as well as local television broadcasts. The Sunday morning 10:45 am worship was broadcast live for one hour on AM Radio Station WNAP, now webcast on (gospelhighwayeleven.com). Each week, Bishop Felton leads an early morning prayer via conference call at 5:00 am and 5:30 am on Thursdays. The Philadelphia Tribune named Bishop Felton as one of Philadelphia’s 100 Most Influential African Americans in 2024.
Bishop Felton was elected President of Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity on November 16, 2023. Bishop Felton was inducted into the Morehouse College Board of Preachers on October 13, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia. He serves on the Jubilee Broadcasting Board, which oversees the operation of the COGIC Radio Station, KSTL, in St. Louis, Missouri. Bishop Felton also serves on the CEBMI Board, where he is Lead Strategist and MLK Celebration Chair, appointed by Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard. Bishop Felton serves the community as the Philadelphia NAACP First Vice-President and chair of the Religious Affairs Committee; and the President of the Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity. Bishop Felton was the Noon Day Speaker at the reknown Hampton Minister’s Conference in June of 2013, and the Keynote Speaker for the 105th Annual Holy Convocation of the Church of God in Christ on Sunday, November 12, 2012, for the Episcopal Consecration of Bishops and Communion Service. Bishop Felton and the Mt. Airy church family successfully hosted the National Men Perfecting Men Conference, May 3-5, 2107. Mt. Airy celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2016 with a Souvenir Journal, a Pictorial Membership Directory, The Trumpet of Jubilee Newsletter and a Golden Jubilee Banquet. Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr., was the speaker for this grand and glorious Golden Jubilee Celebration.
In July of 2013, at the National Auxiliaries In Ministry Convention, Bishop Felton was appointed Director of Men’s Ministry & Homiletics for the Int’l Sunday School Department of the Church of God in Christ. From 1991-2010, Dr. Felton served as Senior Pastor of The Galilee Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, Michigan. successfully completing construction of a new facility in December, 2004, valued at over $5,000,000 and owning all 4 corners of the intersection where the congregation worships.
As President of the North Side Ministerial Alliance, he was instrumental in obtaining a $180,000 grant from ELCA for the founding of ERRACE (Eradicating Racism and Claiming/Celebrating Equality); also the recipient of a $3 million dollar grant from the Compassion Capital Fund of the Faith Based Initiative of the Federal Government in 2004-2006. Dr. Felton is also the co-founder of ISAAC (Interfaith Strategy for Advocacy and Action in the Community).
Bishop Felton is an alumnus of Western Michigan University and attended McCormick Theological Seminary, Western Theological Seminary and Grand Rapids Theological Seminary, receiving the Doctorate of Divinity (Honorary) from the St. Thomas Christian College in April of 2004.
