Our Lutheran Connections

ULS has a rich history of building sustainable partnerships with several national, international and local organizations neighboring our Philadelphia and Gettysburg campuses to better serve the greater Lutheran community.

ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)

The ELCA's 65 synods vary greatly in size, geography, membership, staffing and program. The synods are grouped into nine regions, which are points of connection for them and the churchwide organization. Synods unite the work of congregations within their areas, serve as regional support, and guide pastoral and other staff candidates. In order to strengthen the relationship between synod leaders and the churchwide office, many churchwide teams relate to and support the work of the synods. ULS is part of Regions 7 & 8 of the ELCA.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod (SEPA)

ULS Philadelphia is pleased to offer office space to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod (SEPA) of the ELCA – “Lutherans together: Loving God. Reflecting Jesus. Serving our neighbors.” Bishop Patricia Ann Curtis Davenport is the first African-American woman to be elected a bishop in the 3.8-million-member ELCA. She was recently elected Vice-Chair of the ELCA Conference of Bishops.
