2020 Program Description:
Beyond the Worship Wars: Engaging Lutheran Liturgy for the 21st Century
Since the time of the New Testament, Christians have gathered weekly (or more) for a special event that connects them to the risen Christ and to each other. Centering our lives around Word and Sacrament, revelations of God’s love in Christ Jesus, is at the heart of the Christian faith. But what exactly is this gathering that we call “worship”? Is there a particular Lutheran “way” to do it? What does it all mean? What role do Baptism, Holy Communion and music play in the life of faith? Join Professor Kyle Schiefelbein-Guerrero for an interactive week of formative learning that addresses these various worship questions and how they are played out in various contexts.
