ABOUT THE EVENT

The Church is supposed to be a place where all God’s people can be loved and celebrated. All too often, however, acts against women ranging from micro-aggression to physical assault causes trauma for rostered and lay women in the ELCA. This program provides comprehensive analysis of the issues in our ministry contexts and how we can better love and support people called women in God’s Beloved Community.

FEATURED PRESENTERS

We are excited to welcome the Rev. Dr. Alina Gayeuski, author of Beyond the Stained Glass Ceiling: Women Clergy in a Still-Patriarchal Church, Dr. Jen Almjeld, author of Fatness and Femininity: Negotiating Narratives of Girlhood Online, and award-winning journalist Laura Bates, author of The New Age of Sexism: How AI, Chatbots, and Deepfakes are Making the World a More Dangerous Place for Women. Ms. Bates is also the founder of The Everyday Sexism Project (everydaysexism.com),a website where women can share experiences of abuse at the hands of the patriarchy.

CELEBRATORY WORSHIP

Our day together culminates in a worship service where all women rostered leaders are invited to vest and process. If you have special music or would like to assist with worship in any way, please email mzimmann@uls.edu.
