Dr. Kyle Schiefelbein-Guerrero, the Steck-Miller Assistant Professor of Worship and Liturgy and Co-Director of Worship Life at United Lutheran Seminary, has been appointed the Grace Professor of Leadership at the Lutheran Theological Seminary Saskatoon, starting July 1. Dr. Schiefelbein-Guerrero will also serve as the Director of Contextual Formation. The creation of this new position advances the Saskatoon seminary’s desire to be both academically rigorous and practically engaged in the life of the church.
“My four years at ULS have been formative as I think about theological education’s role in the 21st century,” said Schiefelbein-Guerrero. “The opportunities I have had to teach worship, coordinate chapel, and serve on various committees have given me insight into the importance of forming leaders for the Church of both today and the future.” President Erwin of ULS said, “we are grateful for all the ways Dr. Schiefelbein-Guerrero has contributed to the life of ULS, and though we are sad to lose him, I know that he enters into this new calling with joy and hope. Within the family of Lutheran seminaries in North America, I know that having a friend of ULS in Saskatoon will advance our common work for the church.”
A member of the Saskatoon Theological Union, LTS traces its origins to 1915 through predecessor institutions and is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. Its recent Lilly-sponsored project “Our Classroom is Western Canada: We Meet There in Mission” commits to revisioning theological education for today.
Please join all of us at ULS in wishing Dr. Schiefelbein-Guerrero the best.
