Rev. Angela Zimmann, Ph.D. Named Interim President

The United Lutheran Seminary Board of Trustees appointed the Rev. Angela Zimmann, Ph.D. , CFRE as iterim president effective December 1, 2019.

Dr. Zimmann previously served ULS as the vice president of institutional advancement and iscurrently an adjunct professor of homiletics.

“ULS has a rich legacy of more than 300 years of preparing people to serve,” Dr. Zimmann said in a letter to the ULS community Dec. 5. “My prayer is that we will walk, work,pray, worship and wait patiently together in the months ahead, trusting thatGod is with us and will do something new and amazing in our midst.”

Dr. Zimmann served as bishop’s assistant to Rev. Munib Younan, president of the Lutheran World Federation in Jerusalem, Palestine/Israel, was co-pastor at Redeeme rLutheran in the Old City of Jerusalem, and was pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church and St. John Lutheran Church, both in Michigan.

She also taught at Bowling Green State University, Southeast Michigan Synod, Heidelberg University and Lourdes College. She was a charter member of the United States Presidential Scholars Alumni Board in Washington, D.C., a trustee for Ohio School Boards Association and is currently a board member of the Gettysburg Area Dollars for Scholars and ARC of Adams County.

She authored the book “Turning the Noose that Binds into a Rope to Climb: ATextual Search for Rhetorical and Linguistic Gender-Markings in Speech Samples of Three Contemporary Female Orators,”as well as numerous articles.

Dr. Zimmann replaces Dr. Richard Green, who retired from ULS as the previous interim president.
