On March 14, 2018, United Lutheran Seminary (ULS) ended its relationship with Rev. Dr. Theresa F. Latini. During this period, individuals outside and inside the ULS community unfairly mischaracterized Dr. Latini’s past professional endeavors, as well as her character. The vitriolic commentary and response Dr. Latini received was unwarranted. Such actions and commentary were neither supported by, nor endorsed by, the Board of Trustees.
As a result of this inflammatory commentary the ULS Board of Trustees wishes to apologize to Dr. Latini for any harm to her professional and personal reputation. While we view the separation as a private personnel matter, other individuals took it as an opportunity to spread hateful and harmful rhetoric directed at Dr. Latini, including threats to her personal safety. We regret the negative impact of these events on Dr. Latini and so many others who were also affected.
As the ULS community moves forward, we want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Latini for her contributions during her tenure as president and wish her well in her future endeavors.
Dr. Latini is grateful for the opportunity to have served United Lutheran Seminary. She enjoyed her association with wonderfully talented students and employees who share in the mission of educating faithful, public leaders for service in congregations and communities. She wishes the wonderfully diverse ULS community the very best and believes the entire community should join together to support the consolidation of the two predecessor schools.
