Dear ULS Community,
As we experience yet another successful Board of Trustees meeting, I wanted to share an important update with you. As some of you may be aware, November 30, 2019 will be my last day as President of United Lutheran Seminary. It is with mixed emotions that I share this news, however Dorothy is calling me home and it is time for me to be with her and the rest of our lovely family.
My tenure at ULS has been exciting, to say the least. Thank you to the board members for entrusting me with this assignment. I have met so many wonderful students who I know will serve God and change the world. I have met with many alumni to see their transformative work as leaders in the church. I have visited with donors, churches, synods, and bishops to represent ULS and share our mission of Unifying, Learning, and Serving. I have had the honor of working alongside our outstanding Faculty and remarkable staff members. Your tireless devotion to raising up rostered leaders for the church gives me hope for the enduring future of our seminary.
While we still have just over 2 months together, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for graciously accepting me into the ULS community with warmth and care. It has been a life changing experience to serve as your president and I will look back on my time here quite fondly. Grace and peace be with you all as our time together comes to an end. There will be opportunities for celebration of our time together between now and the end of November in both Philadelphia and Gettysburg.
Many of you might be wondering who will be leading the institution following my departure. The executive committee of the board is currently working to find an Acting President for this purpose. Please pray for wisdom and discernment in this process. In addition to the announcement of my departure, a full summary of the Board proceedings will be sent shortly.
