UTI Certificate in Christian Ministry

On the Philadelphia Campus

The UTI Certificate Program in Christian Ministry is designed to offer classes to clergy and church leaders that will equip them in the parish and enhance their skills in Bible study, church doctrine, church history, homiletics, and worship.

The Certificate Program in Christian Ministry is a program of the Urban Theological Institute (UTI) of United Lutheran Seminary. The UTI is dedicated to providing theological education to church leaders that is relevant and upbuilding for the Christian community.

The program consists of eight classes over two academic years:

  • Historical Books (OT)
  • The Prophets (OT)
  • The Gospels (NT)
  • The Epistles (NT)
  • Beliefs of the Church
  • Historical Church Leaders
  • Famous Preachers’ Sermon Style
  • Music and Worship

Participants who complete the full two-year (two courses each seminar) program will receive a certificate in Christian ministry. Entrance into the program can start in fall or spring.

Schedule and Fees

The seminars are held on the Philadelphia campus. Each class meets 3 – 3.5 hours, once a week for 12 weeks on Saturday mornings.

The fee per session is $225 plus the cost of textbooks. Classes for the fall semester begin in September, and in February for the spring semester.
